Agra is a city in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, some 200 km from the Indian capital city of Delhi. Agra has three UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort in the city and Fatehpur Sikri nearby. The sites are some of the wonders of the world and no trip to India is complete without at least one visit to the Taj. The earliest reference to Agra is in the ancient epic, the Mahabharata, while Ptolemy was the first person to call it by its modern name.

After smooth check in at the hotel and relaxing a bit, move along with Agra tour guide to visit famous monuments of Agra, namely-Agra Fort, Baby Taj (tomb of It-Mad-ud-Daula) an SUNSET VIEW OF TAJMAHAL FROM MEHTAB BAG.

Agra Fort : The fort is built alongside the Yamuna River and stretches almost 2.5 km. It consists of a wall built in red sandstone and several buildings inside. The wall has 2 gates, the Delhi Gate and the Amar Singh Gate.

Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daula : Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daula houses the magnificent mausoleum of Ghias Beg, father of the Mughal Empress Noor Jehan. The main tomb is made of pure white marble, with each façade composed of three arches with beautiful trellis screens, so delicately carved that they appear to be made of ivory.

Having visited Baby Taj, you will be taken to Mehtab Bag to view Taj Mahal at the time of sunset as it offers a different pleasant view.

Taj View from Mehtab Bag is a unique experience. Mehtab Bag is located across River Yamuna and opposite Taj Mahal. The octagonal tank of water in Mehtab Bag reflects Taj Mahal. The picturesque ‘Charbag’ style garden provide perfect setting to view Taj Mahal in moon light, away from uproarious hustle bustle of the city of Agra.

After visiting Mehtab Bag, return to hotel for overnight stay

Day 2 Agra- Fatehpur Sikri- Delhi (245 kms/05 hrs)- Departure

The first monument a visitor tries to see in Agra is Taj Mahal but, at the same time, he/she prefers to behold Taj Mahal at the time of sunrise when, supposedly, Taj Mahal looks amazing. Keeping in view this desire of a guest, we planned to take you Taj Mahal 2nd day of Agra tour. In the very early morning, approximately around dawn hours, you will be taken by Agra tour guide to Taj Mahal. The time of sunrise has been purposefully chosen so that you could see the Taj Mahal when it looks most stunning and beautiful. Visit the world famous Taj Mahal.

Taj Mahal’s construction started in the year 1631 and took approximately 22 years to build it. An epitome of love, it made use of the services of 22,000 laborers and 1,000 elephants. It was built entirely out of white Makrana marble. Built By: Shah Jahan; Dedicated to: Mumtaz Mahal, the wife of Shah Jahan; Location: Agra; Building Type: Islamic tomb; Architecture: Islamic.

After watching Taj Mahal, return to Agra hotel. Have breakfast, refresh and move for Fatehpur Sikri, a deserted medieval era Mughal township, located about 35 kms from Agra. Fatehpur Sikri was built by Akbar on a grandiose scale to make it capital his kingdom but due to paucity of potable water made him to re-look his plans. But the gargantuan and fine monuments are still well-preserved. Have a stop-over there and visit monuments-rich Fatehpur Sikri. The famous monuments of Fatehpur Sikri include Buland Darwaja, Jodhabai Palace, Salim Chishti Shrine and Jama Masjid.

Buland Darwaja (Fatehpur Sikri) is a 15-storied high gateway that guards the North Eastern entrance of the city of Fatehpur Sikri. The intimidating structure stands 43 meters or 140 feet on the pedestal and a cool 54 feet above the ground. The gateway is approached by a steep flight of 42 steps, which add height and majesty to the entire structure. Buland Darwaja that is counted as one of the tallest gateways in the world is almost entirely made out of the red-sandstone with a generous dose of marble decoration on it.

After visiting Fatehpur Sikri, continue your drive to New Delhi. On arrival at New Delhi, you will be transferred to either airport or your Delhi hotel.
