Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is rated as the most beautiful monument of love ever built. Taj Mahal was built during 1630 AD by Shah Jahan in fond memory of Mumtaj Mahal. Taj Mahal has been a flawless monument from its conception to execution. Visit the Taj Mahal in the soft light of the setting sun as well, depending upon time in hand.

Day 4 Agra- Fatehpur Sikri-Abhaneri- Jaipur (245 kms/ 05 hrs)

Having enjoyed enchanting beauty of Taj Mahal, depart from Agra towards Jaipur, after relishing sumptuous breakfast in Agra hotel. Before reaching Jaipur, there will be two stopovers en route- Fatehpur Sikri (38 kms from Agra) and Abhaneri (95 kms from Jaipur). Fatehpur Sikri briefly served as capital of Akbar and hence is home to grand palaces, meeting halls, courtyards, shrine of Salim Chishti and Buland Darwaja. For Abhaneri, you have to take a detour of 7 kms about 95 kms short of Jaipur. The sleepy village of Abhaneri is famous for ancient temple of a goddess. The temple of Abhaneri displays ruins and pieces of sculpture of a high degree of craftsmanship. But, now-a-days, the prime tourist attraction is 10th century Baoris (step-well) which is the most fascinating one in Rajasthan. The well is an innovative and indigenous invention of the local people to collect and harvest rainwater. Abhaneri step-well has 13 levels and is fortified with flights of steps on the three sides. It is an interesting piece of architecture.

Having seen marvelous piece of ancient craftsmanship, move for Jaipur. On arrival at Jaipur, check in at Jaipur hotel for overnight stay.

Day 5 Jaipur sightseeing

Have breakfast early in the morning to have ample time to enjoy an excursion to Amber Fort on caparisoned elephant ride to have a feel of the days of 'Maharajas'. And where you can enjoy it the most? Definitely only in Rajasthan. Amber Fort was immensely fortified citadel of Kachhawaha Rajput rulers of Jaipur. Wander inside Amber Fort to see magnificent palaces (summer palace, winter palace and mirror palace etc), courtyards, tunnels and water harvesting system. Witness the opulence of lifestyle of royal Rajput families.

After viewing Amber Fort, proceed for watching City Palace, Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar. En route visit Jal Mahal as well. City Palace, a royal family palace, is a well constructed constellation of a series of courtyards, gardens and buildings. Within the palace, a large building has been converted into a museum housing armoury, textiles and artifacts.

Jantar Mantar is a scientifically built 17th century solar observatory to measure the position of stars, altitudes, azimuths and calculating eclipses.
