Day 6
Visit Taj Mahal / Agra- Mathura & Vrindavana – Delhi (180 kms/ 04 hrs) -Departure
Get up early in the morning, around dawn hours. Agra tour guide will meet you in hotel’s lobby and take to world famous Taj Mahal. Your visit to Taj Mahal in the morning has been duly planned so that you see Taj Mahal when, purportedly, looks the best. Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jahan, in memory of her beloved wife Mumtaj Mahal who expired while giving birth to 14th child. Earlier Mumtaj Mahal was buried in Burhanpur in South India in 1630. Construction of Taj Mahal began in 1632 and was completed in 1653. 20,000 men were employed for its construction. It is built on the banks of Yamuna river, not far from Agra Fort. The entire structure is more than 55 meters high, built of white and yellow marble. The Taj Mahal is flanked by two small buildings, one mosque and another rest-house. Many people spend several hours around the Taj or the gardens, which are well maintained. The garden has a geometric structure, and is believed to symbolize paradise. Inside the mausoleum, the atmosphere is cold. The interiors are dark, and at first glance there is not much to see, but if you look closely you can observe carved marble decorated with many semi-precious stones (sapphires, topaz, coral, etc.) of all colors.
Having seen Taj Mahal, return to Agra hotel, relax, refresh, have delicious breakfast and check out to proceed for Delhi. On the way to Delhi, you will be taken to Mathura & Vrindavana, the birth place of Lord Krishna. There are several temples in Mathura but three prominent temples are must-see. These temples are Banke Bihari Temple, Krishna Janmasthan and ISKON Temple. After visiting famous, historical and religiously prominent temples of Mathura and Vrindavana, drive to New Delhi. Late evening reach Delhi. You will be directly transferred to New Delhi airport to board flight for your onward destination.
