Delhi - Agra (200 Kms - 04:00 hrs) 06:30 to 11:45 hrs. Agra Arrival:
You will be picked up from Delhi hotel early in the morning at 6:30 AM. Drive to Agra through the Indian country side.
Agrais a city in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, some 200 km from the Indian capital city of Delhi. Agra has three UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort in the city and Fatehpur Sikri nearby. There are also many other buildings and tombs from Agra's days of glory as the capital of the Mughal Empire. The sites are some of the wonders of the world and no trip to India is complete without at least one visit to the Taj. The earliest reference to Agra is in the ancient epic, the Mahabharata, while Ptolemy was the first person to call it by its modern name. Agra was the Mughal capital at one point.
Taj Mahal Sightseeing (11:45 to 13:30 hrs.)
On arrival at Agra, you will be received by our representative. You will be introduced with Agra tour guide. Now the Agra tour guide will take you directly to Taj Mahal. The construction of Taj Mahal started in the year 1631 and it took approximately 22 years to build it. An epitome of love, it made use of the services of 22,000 laborers and 1,000 elephants. It was built entirely out of white marble, which was brought in from all over India and central Asia. Lunch (1330 to 1430 hrs).
After visiting Taj Mahal, proceed to hotel / restaurant in Agra where a sumptuous buffet lunch awaits you.
Agra Fort Sightseeing (14:30 to 15:30 hrs )
After lunch, visit the Agra Fort built in red sandstone with its magnificent palaces. Agra Fort is built alongside the Yamuna river and stretches almost 2.5 km. It consists of a wall built in red sandstone and several buildings inside. The wall has 2 gates, the Delhi Gate and the Amar Singh Gate. The fort is surrounded by a 70 feet high wall It is home to the beautiful Pearl Mosque and Numerous palaces including the Jahangir Mahal, Diwan-i-Khas, Diwan-i-Am and Moti Masjid Later it was used by his son Jahangir as the seat of power. With four gates the Fort is enclosed by a double barricaded wall of red sand stone. The Jahangir Mahal is reached through an impressive gateway and its inner courtyard consists of beautiful halls, profuse carvings on stone, exquisitely carved heavy brackets, piers and cross beams.
Market visit (15:30 to 16:00 hrs)
Visit a marble factory to see the beautiful inlay of precious and semi precious stones into the marble. Also visit Agra market renowned for handicraft artefacts
Sikandara Sightseeing (16:30 to 17:00 hrs)
Finally before driving back to Delhi, one can make a brief visit to Sikandara the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Akbar, a magnificent garden tomb.
Agra -Delhi (210 Kms - 04:00 hrs) 17:00 to 21:30 hrs. Delhi Arrival
Return to Delhi around 2130 hours stopping midway for refreshments.
