Though Agra has tremendous prominence in India history due to its antiquity and rich lineage of tumultuous past but the city of Agra, now- a- days, hogs the realm of Indian tourism with Taj Mahal studded in its crown. The earliest reference to Agra is in the ancient epic, the Mahabharata, while Ptolemy was the first person to call it by its modern name. Merely 200 kms from New Delhi, the capital of Indian republic, Agra is home to many monuments and still prevalent medieval aspects of Muslim culture and cuisines. Taj Mahal and Agra Fort are two UNESCO World Heritage sites. Baby Taj (Tomb of It-Mad-ud Daula), Chini ka Rauza, Sikandara (Tomb of Akbar), Aram Bag, Mehtab Bag and Jama Masjid are few famous monuments of bygone era. Only 35 kms from Agra is the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri, built by Akbar. Any tour to India is incomplete without visiting Agra.
